PROJECTS

Kids n’Kastles is our biggest event of the year. Children compete in three categories : Creatures of the Sea,Best Sculpture, Sand Castles, for prizes and trophies. Every participant receives a goodie bag upon registration. The contest is held in conjunction with the U.S. Open Sand Castle Competition.  The contest will be: July 23,2011.For more info and registration form visit : www.usopensandcastle.com




Essay Contest : Open to local all middle school and high school students.  - Contest Completed for 2011.


                                


Oratorical Contest : Open to all upper elementary and middle school students under the age of 15. This contest is held March 8 at 4:30 pm at Oneonta School, Imperial Beach. The topic will be : “If I were the leader of the free world, the first issue I would address would be ...”. Applications available at www.calso.org.

Next the Zone Contest held at Bonita Optimist, Rohr Manor, April 9,2011



VIP Village (Very Important Pre-school). Yearly donation made for programs. 5 needy families are adopted each year. The club provides a Thanksgiving and Christmas basket of food and toys for each child in the family at Christmas.



Imperial Beach Public Library : Monetary donation given to purchase Caldecott Winning books  and specific curriculum books such as : history, art and science.



Annual Food Drive : Held in conjunction with Imperial Beach School. Donations given to the Good Neighbor Center, a food distribution center at Nestor United Methodist Church.



Freedoms Foundation Support : Donations made to  support local high school juniors attending the Valley Forge Youth Leadership Summit every spring.For more information: www.freedomsfoundationsd.org



MarVista High School Community Service Scholarship : Awarded annually to a graduating senior who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and involvement in his/her community


6th Grade Scholar Tea : The Distinguished Scholars from the 14 schools in the South Bay Union School District are honored at a tea with a gift from the club and certificates of recognition from the Mayors of Imperial Beach and San Diego and other civic leaders.


Recognition with a plaque and dining certificate to the South Bay Union School District Certificated and Classified Employees of the Year.
